Video Poker is a popular game that can be played in casinos all over the world, or in your house on your personal computer, using an Internet connection. The rules are very straightforward and consist of the player attempting to achieve the greatest combination of cards achievable in order to acquire money. On this account it is very similar as a classic game of poker, apart from the line of contact with any other players. Of course, tactics employed during a physical game of poker, like bluffing, will be useless in Video Poker.

The game of Video Poker begins when the player puts credits (either tokens, credit slips or money) into the video poker machine and presses the draw button. A hand of five cards will be electronically ‘dealt’ on the video screen.

The Electronic Poker machine also has hold buttons, and enthusiasts should now decide which cards to hold and which to discard. For the cards the player wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they want, whether it is all or none.

After the gambler has decided on which cards he or she wishes to keep, the player will then press ‘draw’, at which point any new cards are dealt if desired. The game is now completed, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands listed in the pay out schedule.

Typically, the minimum succeeding hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money increasing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It should be known that the payout schedule can change from machine to machine, so that experienced enthusiasts are agile enough to choose the most money-making machine each instance.

After the initial round has played out, the player can either choose to continue on and try to to increase their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any credits that they may have won. Further, several versions of the game give the bettor an opportunity to increase their wins, in which situation a further round is played. There are also variations between specific games, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other differing characteristics to enhance playability.
