Electronic Poker is a popular game that is able to be played in casinos around the globe, or alternatively at home on your computer, using a net connection. The game rules are absolutely simple and consist of the player attempting to achieve the highest assemblage of cards possible in order to come away with cash. In this respect it’s much the same as a classic game of poker, without the line of contact with other players. Of course, methods employed during a physical game of poker, like bluffing, will be useless in Video Poker.

The game of Electronic Poker begins when the bettor puts credits (either tokens, credit slips or money) into the video poker machine and pushes the draw button. A hand of 5 cards will be electronically ‘distributed’ on the video screen.

The Video Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and gamblers should now choose which cards to hold and which to throw away. For the cards the bettor wishes to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they wish, from all to none.

After the enthusiast has decided on which cards he wishes to keep, they should press ‘deal’, which will mean that any fresh cards will be needed they will be dealt. The game is now finished, with the Video Poker machine scanning the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands listed in the payout schedule.

Normally, the lowest succeeding hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It goes without saying that the payout schedule can vary from machine to machine, so that discerning enthusiasts are agile enough to select the most beneficial game each instance.

Once the first round has completed, the player can either decide to remain on in an attempt to increase their earnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any cash that might have been won. Additionally, a few versions of the game give the enthusiast an opportunity to increase their wins, in which instance a further hand is played. There are also variations among specific machines, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other differing elements to increase playability.
