Electronic Poker is a popular game that can be enjoyed in casinos throughout the world, or in your house on your home computer, using an Internet connection. The game rules are absolutely straightforward and involve the player attempting to achieve the greatest mixture of cards achievable in order to come away with cash. In this respect it’s very similar as a regular game of poker, without the line of contact with competing players. Of course, tactics employed during a physical game of poker, like bluffing, will be useless here.

The game of Electronic Poker begins when the bettor puts credits (either tokens, credit slips or cash) into the machine and presses the deal button. A hand of five cards will be "handed out" on the screen.

The Video Poker machine also has hold buttons, and gamblers will need to now decide which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the gambler wishes to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they wish, whether it’s all or none.

After the player has selected which cards he would like to retain, the player will then press ‘draw’, which will mean that any new cards are needed they will be given out. The round is now completed, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands listed in the payout schedule.

Typically, the minimum winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each and every better hand. A common list of winning hands begins with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It is obvious that the payment schedule can change from machine to machine, so that discerning bettors are able to choose the most profitable game each and every time.

Once the first round has played out, the player can either decide to stay on in an attempt to increase their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any credits that have been won. Additionally, some versions of the game give the player an opportunity to double their wins, in which case a further game is played. There are also variations between specific machines, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other differing aspects to increase playability.
